Privacy Notice
This notice explains how Mini Education handles information when you use Mini Chemistry, the optional Mini Education account, and connected learning tools. Public lessons and anonymous practice remain available without an account.
Current notice version: {CURRENT_PRIVACY_NOTICE_VERSION}
This version takes effect when it is published on this site.
What is saved in this browser
Mini Chemistry uses first-party browser storage for functions you ask for: unfinished attempts, answers and results, structured-response drafts, bookmarks, course and reading preferences, progress and mistake records, generated practice packs, simulations, and pending account-sync work.
The main expiry boundaries are:
- unfinished registered-free attempts: up to 3 hours from the attempt start on the same device; anonymous attempts have no persisted resume entitlement;
- completed quiz, assessment, practice-summary and detailed learning history: 30 days;
- structured drafts: 7 days; generated practice packs: 14 days;
- simulation working state: 1 day; completed simulation hand-off data: 6 hours;
- progress checkpoints: up to 2 years after last activity; and
- bookmarks, course, reading and simulation preferences: until you clear them or browser storage is removed.
The Learning data and privacy controls on the learning dashboard can download or clear the subject learning data on that device. The Mini Chemistry account page can separately export or clear browser data scoped to the signed-in account. A device clear does not claim to erase an online copy, and an online reset does not automatically reach a disconnected browser.
Optional accounts and signed-in learning
Mini Chemistry uses the shared Mini Education account service. An account uses a verified email address, authentication identity, sessions, notice acceptance, optional profile information, recovery credentials, security events, and access records. Most of that information is kept while the account exists. Short-lived codes, sessions, rate limits and recovery challenges expire at their own security deadlines. Bounded deletion and reset fences may remain long enough to stop stale devices, retries or restored backups from recreating deleted information.
When signed-in learning is available, new Chemistry learning completed while signed in may be saved to the Chemistry learning service. Guest work is not imported automatically: importing earlier browser work is a separate explicit action. You can stop future sync without erasing already saved learning, reset Chemistry learning online, export account data, or delete the whole account. These are distinct controls.
Online learning events used for progress and repair are normally kept for 30 or 90 days, depending on their purpose; the latest progress checkpoint may remain for up to 2 years after activity. Account deletion removes identifiable learning from the active services. Paid billing is closed at this launch stage, so the account does not create new payment records.
Analytics and advertising
When analytics is enabled, eligible public pages load Google Analytics to understand whether pages work and which learning routes are useful. Google may process technical information about the visit and use cookies or other browser identifiers. We use Google’s consent management platform (CMP) to present consent choices where applicable. Account, sign-in, private learning, assessment and other excluded routes do not load this optional product analytics service.
Cloudflare also provides privacy-minimised traffic information. When enabled, our first-party, self-hosted Umami service measures page visits and selected learning interactions on eligible public routes. We do not send account identifiers, answers or free-text responses to Umami, and excluded private routes do not load it. Google Analytics and Umami reports remain separate.
When advertising is enabled, eligible public pages load Google AdSense and may show ads. Advertising is suppressed on account, assessment and other excluded routes. Google may process technical information and use cookies or local storage for advertising, measurement and invalid-traffic detection. Ad serving may be limited, restricted or unavailable depending on the visitor’s region and Google’s policies. We can disable analytics or advertising without changing this notice.
Provider information and controls:
We do not sell personal data.
Contact forms and service messages
If you contact us, we process the name, reply address, reason, subject, message and optional page reference that you submit so we can respond. Cloudflare Turnstile may process technical anti-abuse data. Avoid placing unnecessary sensitive information in free text.
Required account messages such as verification and security notices are separate from optional email preferences. Optional topics remain off unless you enable them, and you can turn them off in account settings. Broader reminder and marketing delivery is not active at launch.
Backups, security and deletion
Account and subject databases are copied into encrypted recovery backups. Recovery copies use bounded rotation: the newest 30 verified off-host sets and 3 local sets. A deletion may therefore age out of encrypted backups rather than being edited inside an existing backup. A restored system must replay deletion and reset fences before it reopens so disposed data is not made active again.
From shared account settings you can download account data, sign out other sessions, clear this device, and request permanent account deletion. Deleting an account removes identity, profile, preferences, access and identifiable learning from active services. Information held only in a browser must be cleared on that browser separately.
Children and external services
The service is designed for learners, so age alone is not used to pretend that children never visit. Learners who are not able to make their own account and privacy choices should use the service with a parent, guardian or school as appropriate. Do not submit another person’s personal information without authority.
External links are governed by the destination’s own privacy terms. Service providers process only the information needed for their role and remain subject to their own legally applicable notices.
Questions and changes
We may update this notice when the product or data handling changes. A material account notice change receives a new version and signed-in users are asked to acknowledge the current version.
For a privacy question or suspected problem, use the Mini Chemistry contact form. For the practical controls and distinctions described above, see Help.
